Santani Wellness Resort
I recently got back from a 3 night stay at the incredible Santani resort. Nestled in the evergreen mountains of Werapitiya, Sri Lanka, it truly was a taste of paradise.
You know the saying, learn to live in the present moment? Well, being surrounded with an abundance of nature at 2500 Ft above sea level, living in the present moment is truly inevitable.
There are only 20 rooms in the Resort, making it a very intimate and private sanctuary. The rooms are very minimalistic yet modern, and the morning view is unbeatable!
I mean, who wouldn't want to wake up to this?
The resort offers Hatha yoga classes twice a day, 7am and 4pm with their in house yoga instructor Rahul. His adjustments are out of this world! He really pays attention to each student and helps you discover each pose with a little bit more depth.
The tri-level Spa boasts a steam & sauna room with glass walls looking out the paddy fields, and an open air thermal salt pool. The ultimate combo before or after a treatment with their experienced therapists. Choose from 26 treatments; the standard Deep tissue, Swedish, Thai massages or opt for the traditional Ayurvedic treatments each designed to alleviate and relieve specific problem areas.
After the 90 minute yoga class, I would head over to the restaurant (where shoes must be taken off) to enjoy their amazing breakfast spread and freshly squeezed vegetable juice of the day. I loved the fact that they have a barefoot policy in the lobby and restaurant, it makes you really feel at home and also super grounded.
Another thing I LOVED about the restaurant (other than the natural light and endless green views), was that there was no printed menus, no pressure on what to order & definitely no FOMO!
The dining at Santani is a truly personalised approach. Before your visit they take in all your dietary requirements and allergies into account. Every day the Chef will prepare natural healthy dishes (of which most of the ingredients are locally sourced in their own greenhouse). You have the option of Western of Sri Lankan cuisine for breakfast or dinner. I tried both cuisines and still can't decide which one was my favourite!
Have your eggs however you like them!
Oven baked fish wrapped in a banana leaf. SO delicious.
The fruit plate was so fresh - it's just what you need first thing in the morning!
After breakfast, we would meet outside the reception at 10AM for the daily hike. During this trail, we walked past cinnamon trees, tea plantations and coffee trees. Our leader Dilipe took us on a wonderful tour and gave us all sorts of information about the types of fruits, trees and the village - we even saw a buffalo while walking past the paddy fields!
If you are looking for a chance to disconnect with the outside world & reconnect with yourself, to be surrounded by nature, and eat some deliciously healthy food- then there is no better place than Santani!
I can't wait to be back for another taste of paradise at this beautiful resort.
